Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia

One of the largest urban zoos in Japan, with approximately 100 species and 760 animals on display on its vast 45-hectare grounds.

Visitors can encounter rare animals such as the okapi, one of the world’s three rarest animals, the Indian lion, of which there are only about 300 in the world, the sesquiped tortoiseshell kangaroo, the yak, the crested serpentine, and the giant migratory pigeon, which lives only in New Caledonia.

A trench is dug between the animals and visitors, allowing visitors to see the animals without fences, with the exception of birds and some animals.

The exhibit consists of eight zones divided by climatic zones around the world, and reproduces the environment of the actual regions where the animals live, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the animals’ habitats.

In the “Japanese Mountain Village” exhibit zone, animals from all over the Japanese archipelago are on display.

The park also holds events such as Night Zoorasia, where visitors can observe animal life at night, guided tours to show visitors where the animals can be seen, and special exhibitions.
