Kanagawa » Miura peninsula, Yokosuka
The Miura Peninsula area offers tourist attractions such as Kurihama Hananokuni, Mikasa Park, and Misaki Asaichi, tourist events such as the Miura International Citizens Marathon, Miura Coast Cherry Blossom Festival, and Chakkirako, and local delicacies such as hijiki, sanma-men, and wakame (seaweed).
The Miura Peninsula area is not far from central Tokyo (60-70 km), yet is rich in nature and historical culture. Depending on the means of transportation, it takes only an hour to an hour and a half to get there, but you can spend a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There are many places of interest such as beaches, parks, temples and shrines, historical sites and monuments, art museums, and cherry blossom viewing spots, as well as many day-trip bathing facilities. There are also many restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood such as tuna and shirasu (dried young sardines), as well as other fresh seafood from the sea and the mountains.
The Miura Peninsula area has the ocean as one of its main attractions, especially the Miura Peninsula, which is located between Tokyo Bay and Sagami Bay.
The Kannonzaki Park, one of the largest parks in the prefecture, where you can enjoy shop-watching and hiking, the Museum of Modern Art Hayama, which is in a privileged location overlooking the Isshiki Coast of Hayama and with a view of Mt. Fuji from its courtyard on fine days, and Jōgashima, where the ruggedness of the reef is overwhelming, are must-sees when visiting the Miura Peninsula.
Also recommended is the shallow, beautifully arced Izu Coast. Izu-kaigan is one of the most popular beaches in Shonan and is always crowded with people engaged in marine sports.
There are many ways to enjoy the Miura Peninsula area, but how about the YOKOSUKA Military Port Tour, the only cruising tour in Japan that offers a close-up view of U.S. Navy and Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels?
You can see not only Maritime Self-Defense Force submarines and destroyers, but also U.S. Navy Aegis and other Japanese and American vessels.
Incidentally, Triangle Corporation, which offers the YOKOSUKA Military Port Tour, also offers a "deserted island" tour that allows you to enjoy the charms of a deserted island to the fullest. If you want to see the nature and historical heritage of Sarushima, we recommend this tour! If you want to see the natural and historical heritage of Sarushima, this is also a good choice.
The Miura Peninsula area is an area where you can enjoy the whole area and all its luxuries. It is a neighborhood resort that can be easily reached from the center of the city! Many tourists visit this area all year round.
