Ryugu Palace

Spectacular open-air bath with a view of Lake Ashi and Mt.

A luxurious hotel registered as a national tangible cultural property has been renovated as a one-day spa facility.

The Ryu Palace was relocated from a hotel built in 1938 on Bentenjima, a scenic spot on Lake Hamana, and had been operating as the Hakone Prince Hotel Japanese Style Annex since 1957.

It is a luxurious hot spring facility where visitors can enjoy not only the building but also the spectacular view of Lake Ashi, the Hakone Outer Rim Mountains, and Mt.

The hot spring is Takogawa Onsen, the newest of the 17 hot springs in Hakone. The spring water is calcium, sodium, sulfate, and chloride spring water, and is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscular pain, fatigue relief, and joint pain.

In addition to the day-trip hot springs, guests can also stay overnight at the Ryu Palace Annex and enjoy the beautiful view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi from their rooms.

The Ryu Palace Annex in Hakone is a day spa with a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi.

The Ryu Palace Honkan is a registered national tangible cultural property and was originally used as a lodging facility.

The hot spring is Takogawa Onsen, the last of the 17 hot springs in Hakone to be discovered, and is known as a fantastic hot spring that springs from the foot of Mount Komagatake.

This smooth water is gentle on the skin and does not easily cool down, so it is expected to be effective in beautifying the skin.

The Ryu Palace main building is easily accessible, with a large parking lot and a free circular bus service from Moto Hakone.

Yukata (Japanese bathrobes) and towels are available for rent, so you can visit empty-handed.

As you proceed through the entrance and stop by the stairwell hall, you will see a lovely chandelier hanging from the high ceiling that reaches to the second floor of the atrium. The design is unique, with a Japanese atmosphere reminiscent of marquetry.

The women’s bath, “Butterfly,” is a newly established bath that has been extended so that it juts out toward Lake Ashi, and even from the indoor bath you can enjoy a view of Lake Ashi and Mt.

When you soak in the bathtub, the smooth, colorless, odorless water spreads comfortably on your skin. The spring water is calcium, sodium, sulfate, and chloride spring water, and is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, and joint pain.

From the open-air bath, Lake Ashi spreads out before you. The sight of white pleasure boats passing by on the lake, along with the blue sky surrounded by trees, spreads out before your eyes, and you can’t help but admire the view even before you soak in the hot spring.

The unique feature of this hot spring is that when you soak in the bathtub, you can enjoy the spectacular view as if you were one with Lake Ashinoko, and experience the magical sensation as if you were immersed in the lake. In the evening, you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sunset-tinted sky and Mt.

The bath has a women-only rest area called “Yugiri. Directly connected to the bathtub, there is a spacious tatami room and a wicker table and chair set by the window, where you can spend your time freely.

The “Juraku” hot-spring rest area, shared by men and women, is spacious enough for many people to relax. This room was once used as a lodging facility, and painters, politicians, and other famous people have stayed in this historic room.

In addition, there are private rooms available for private parties. Rooms of various sizes are available for use every two hours (for a fee). Since the rooms are in the same building where guests once stayed, the atmosphere is relaxing and homey, as if you had come home.

The interior is all in Japanese style, with lights inspired by Hakone’s marquetry, rattan rocking chairs, and other features that give the rooms an old-fashioned atmosphere.

The restaurant “Fuji” was renovated from a former banquet hall, providing a bright atmosphere for dining.

The main building of the Dragon Palace has a long history and was opened in 1938 as the Hamanako Hotel on “Bentenjima” in Hamanako. Its exterior was modeled after the Byodoin Phoenix Hall in Uji, and its modern interior was also popular.

However, due to the war, the hotel was closed a year and a half later, and was later relocated to the shore of Lake Ashi in Hakone, where it reopened in 1957 as the Hakone Prince Hotel Japanese-style annex “Ryu Palace.

Remnants of the original entrance can still be seen in the main building; in 1990, an annex was built adjacent to the main building, which was renovated and turned into a day spa facility.

Visitors can spend a relaxing time in the main Ryu Palace building while enjoying the view of Lake Ashi, and the nostalgic atmosphere of the building also evokes a nostalgic feeling, allowing visitors to spend a calm and relaxing time.

For those who want to heal their tired minds and bodies, those planning a trip to Hakone, and those who love hot springs, the one-day spa Ryu Palace Honkan is an ideal place. Please visit us for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
