Daishi Park is an urban park adjacent to Kawasaki Daishi Temple (Hirama Temple). This garden is also known as a cherry blossom viewing spot.
After passing through the “Taruka Gate” decorated with beautiful flower carvings, visitors can enjoy a world of landscapes with azumaya, corridors, and a spacious pond. Tiles, stones, and timbers are made of authentic Chinese materials.
In Shenxuyuan, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the four seasons, with a variety of plants such as azaleas, mountain azaleas, hydrangeas, dodan azaleas, bokeh, and Japanese hollyhock, adding color to the garden.
The name of the garden is “Shen,” short for Shenyang City in China’s Liaoning Province, and “Xiu” means “beautiful,” meaning that the garden is a collection of the finest scenery in Shenyang City.
The garden is a natural landscape garden built in 1987 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the sister city affiliation between Shenyang, China and Kawasaki City, and the lapis lazuli tiles, wood frames, lion statues, and Taihu stones used in the building were donated by Shenyang City.
Highlights of the garden
Taihu Stone
This odd stone with many holes was quarried from Taihu Lake in China, and the word “taiyun” is engraved on it.
Lion Statue
A pair of male and female lion statues are located at the entrance of Shenxuyuan.
Chishun Pavilion
The Chishun Pavilion is a building that appears after passing through the Taihu Stone, and allows visitors to view the waterfall from the front. The ceiling of the building is decorated with paintings on the theme of “spring.
Root Xiangjia (藕香榭)
This is a building where visitors can appreciate lotus flowers, especially in summer. The ceiling is decorated with paintings on the theme of “summer.
Lantui Pavilion
This is the highest building in Shenxuyuan and offers a panoramic view of the park. The waterfall next to the pavilion provides a wonderful view with the sound of water.
